General Motors is adding Gemini to four million cars

TL;DR

General Motors plans to bring Google's Gemini AI assistant to around four million US vehicles. Eligible models are Cadillac, Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC from model year 2022 onward with Google built-in. The upgrade arrives via over-the-air updates to GM's infotainment system over several months. GM calls it one of the largest Gemini deployments in the industry — replacing Google Assistant with a smarter, more intuitive AI.

Nauti's Take

Nauti sees a real opportunity: bringing Gemini to four million GM cars finally makes the in-car assistant feel grown-up — voice control, route planning and conversational features on a different level than the old Google Assistant. The catch: every in-car prompt now feeds Google location data, audio and behavioural signals.

A win for drivers already living in the Google ecosystem; a fresh privacy risk for everyone else.
