Spotify boss defends move to AI music, saying it is better than ‘slop’

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek has defended the company's move into AI-generated music. Premium users will soon be able to create their own AI remixes and covers using catalogue material from participating artists, under a deal with Universal Music Group. Ek argues this protects artists from piracy and from unregulated AI "slop". Critics still see it as a structural break for the industry.
