Running an agent locally is a real advantage for anyone handling confidential files, and local work does not burn Perplexity credits. The catch is hardware: 24 GB of VRAM puts this in workstation territory, and a 27B model will hit limits on complex tasks, at which point work gets routed to the cloud anyway.
Teams with strong RTX machines stand to benefit most, while everyone else should check exactly which data leaves the device when cloud routing kicks in.
