Show HN: FactIQ – a realtime econ+finance database for AI agents

TL;DR

FactIQ is a new defog-ai plugin for Claude Code and Codex that aims to give AI agents direct access to an economy and finance database: SEC filings, official statistical series, macro data, live market data and earnings-call intelligence. The agent can discover series, inspect metadata, run read-only SQL, derive metrics and publish outputs as a FactIQ chart, report, terminal preview or local HTML visualization.

Nauti's Take

This targets the right problem, because agents in finance and macro research often fail on more basic issues than statistics: wrong series, broken units and missing counter-checks. If FactIQ really handles normalization well, it could be more useful than yet another chat interface over PDFs.

But the launch is PR-heavy: without benchmarks, example analyses with error checks and clear coverage details, it is a promising tool, not a proven Bloomberg replacement.

Briefingshow

For AI agents, clean data acquisition is often the bottleneck, not analysis. FactIQ targets that layer: fewer tokens spent on parsing and cleanup, more context left for hypotheses, counter-checks and visualization. The interesting part is the mix of MCP access, a standardized schema and finance data that otherwise tends to be expensive or fragmented.
