Guitar company D’Addario admits that AI music was used in a promotional video

TL;DR

Instrument maker D'Addario has admitted that AI music generated with Suno was used in a recent promotional video. For nearly two weeks the company denied the allegations even as evidence piled up. Its explanations ranged from low-quality exports to digital noise introduced by plug-ins such as Autotune, and AI-assisted mastering tools from LANDR and Logic. The company has now edited its original Instagram post from July 29th to say the denial was wrong.

Nauti's Take

The late admission is at least progress for transparency in the music business, because traceable AI parts are hard to hide these days. The risk sits in the sequence: two weeks of denial cost more trust than using Suno ever would have.

Brands putting AI into ads are better off declaring it upfront, since musicians and communities are now checking very closely.
