Shut Those Laptops! Anthropic Puts Its Claude Cowork Agent on Your Phone

TL;DR

Anthropic is bringing Claude Cowork to the Claude mobile app and the web for the first time. Until now, the agent mainly required the macOS or Windows desktop app. Cowork tasks now run in the cloud by default, so they can continue after a laptop is closed or even when no device is online. Scheduled tasks can keep running overnight. Claude can send phone notifications when it needs a human approval or decision. Anthropic says actions such as sending content still require user review.

Nauti's Take

Start with a real workflow that has a clear approval point: collect research, prepare a draft, trigger a notification, and block the send step. Cloud execution makes Claude more useful for overnight agent work, but it shifts the control question to permissions, logs, and data sources.

Local files and browser actions still make the desktop app the serious setup.

Briefingshow

This is more than a convenience update: Anthropic is moving agent work from an open laptop into persistent cloud sessions controlled from a phone. That brings agents closer to real workflows across email, Slack, calendars, and approvals. It also raises the security bar, because background execution and access to sensitive data need tighter boundaries.
