Scoop: SpaceXAI launches new model, Grok 4.5

TL;DR

SpaceXAI is launching Grok 4.5 on July 8 as its strongest model yet, its first major release since going public and acquiring Cursor. The pitch is enterprise work, not casual chat: Grok 4.5 is available in Grok Build, in Cursor across all plans, and through the SpaceXAI console. Musk frames it as an Opus-class model that is faster, more token-efficient and cheaper. Pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens.

Nauti's Take

SpaceXAI is selling Grok 4.5 as a practical engineering tool, then wrapping it in the usual Musk language about truth, speed and leaderboard position. The real test is not whether a launch chart beats Opus 4.8, but whether Cursor users get fewer broken diffs, less context loss and lower bills.

The missing EU availability is a real constraint for European teams. Test it, but do not migrate on PR benchmarks alone.

Briefingshow

Grok 4.5 shows SpaceXAI aiming at developer workflows rather than consumer chatbot attention. The Cursor integration matters more than the benchmark splash: when a model lives inside the IDE, latency, token cost and wrong code matter immediately. The caveat is that much of the performance story comes from launch claims and still needs independent testing.
