There is little to soften here: if an image model turns real abuse material into new depictions, the filtering architecture failed. The progress lies in the case itself, since a US court may for the first time clarify who is liable for generative model output.

That clarity helps every provider working responsibly. For anyone shipping image generation in a product, the question of training data provenance just became a liability question.
