Tools like this map are exactly what an honest debate about AI infrastructure needs - until now, the real cost of data centers stayed invisible to the public. The upside: anyone can finally check how their own region is affected.
The risk: maps without solid context can also fuel panic - not every data center is automatically a water thief. Beneficiaries are local initiatives and journalists, while hyperscalers used to negotiating in the shadows should watch out.
