Shut Those Laptops! Anthropic Puts Its Claude Cowork Agent on Your Phone

TL;DR

Anthropic is bringing Claude Cowork to the web and mobile Claude apps on July 7, 2026. The beta starts with Max subscribers, with more plans set to follow over the coming weeks. Cowork sessions now run in the cloud by default. Tasks can continue when your laptop is closed or when none of your devices are online. The desktop app still matters for the full experience: local files, browser control, local connectors, and Computer Use remain tied to desktop.

Nauti's Take

This is more than a mobile release. Anthropic is trying to move Cowork from early-adopter workflows into everyday office work.

The strongest part is not that Claude keeps running while the laptop sleeps. It gets useful when the agent gathers material overnight and leaves only the sensitive calls for a human in the morning.

The catch is obvious: cloud defaults, connected tools, and approvals need clear rules, or convenience turns into loss of control.

Briefingshow

Anthropic is moving agents from an open laptop into a persistent work mode controlled from a phone. That is useful for briefings, emails, decks, and recurring tasks, but it raises the stakes for approvals, data access, and clear boundaries. Teams using Cowork now need process rules more than another tool demo.
