BLLM / ALLM – before and after LLM

TL;DR

Shall we start indicating the time as "before llm" and "after llm"? I've just talked with someone who wants to break into the industry and i've wrote something like "i have few collogues who entered through contributing to open source, but it was before LLMs". ycombinator. com/item?

Nauti's Take

There is a real point buried in the joke, and that is the opportunity: anyone entering the field today faces completely different learning paths than three years ago, and naming that break makes hiring and upskilling conversations sharper. The risk is substance, since the proposal is one forum post with no traction and no data behind it.

For teams the label matters less than the question of which skills are being repriced in their own market.
